The Pantry Bug Trap
attracts and captures adult flour moths like Indian Meal Moth,
Mediterranean flour moth, almond moth, raisin moth etc.
The Pantry Bug Trap is the only solution to those
disgusting moths in bird feed & kitchens. These insects occur almost
everywhere, and are attracted by foods like grains, pasta, dried fruit,
chocolate, candies, raisins, nuts, dry pet food, bird
seed etc. Damage is caused by larvae spinning threads as they feed and
crawl, webbing food particles together. The moths lay eggs in cracks and crevasses near food, such as in
shelving, cupboards and pantries. Adult moths emerge and fly about seeking
mates. The Pantry Bug Trap uses the same chemical messenger (pheromone)
that female moths use to attract male moths for mating. Male moths are
drawn by the scent and are caught in the trap and die. Removing male moths
prevents mating and egg laying. Long term use of the Pantry Moth Trap will
reduce troubling infestations without the use of toxic chemicals.
Trap
Placement:
Place the
trap near the problem area, generally where dried foodstuffs are
stored. Locations include
the basement, pantry, kitchen or garage.
Choose a
location where the trap will get the most air circulation, but where
it will not be damaged by swinging doors or foot traffics.
The moths
will find the trap when the trap is placed within 10 feet of the
infested food source.
Along with the Pantry Bug Trap
some other strategies to help with the infestation are:
-
A thorough cleaning of all food storage areas. A good
way to do this is with a shop vac which will suck up any little crumbs
that are in the pantry cracks and crevices. Be sure to keep any crumbs
behind stoves, refrigerators etc. cleaned up.
-
Use Diatomaceous
Earth in an appropriate applicator for moth larva control in
cracks or crevices that you cannot get into. It will desiccate them. Pest
Pistols are a great applicator
-
Throw out food that you find the larvae in.
-
Purchase containers and glass jars with tight fitting
lids to store foods in. Old mayonnaise jars and the like can be
recycled for this purpose just sterilize them first.
